Mezcal Tatemado
Mezcal Tatemado: The Art of Balance
Mezcal Tatemado was born from the wisdom of our grandmother, Jovita. As a traditional cook, she perfected the art of tatemar—roasting ingredients for mole until they released their aromas without turning bitter. That same pursuit of balance guides our mezcal: each agave is harvested, cooked, and distilled at the perfect point to reveal its purest expression.
Founded by Guadalupe Guzmán Pacheco in 2016, Tatemado began as a small agave project and grew into Grupo Mezcalero Tatemado, dedicated to supporting local Zapotec communities. Our mezcal is crafted by 4th- and 5th-generation mezcaleros who still speak their ancestral language and preserve traditional methods. Every bottle reflects their skill, their land, and their culture.
Our logo celebrates Oaxaca’s richness:
T for Tlayudas, a representative dish of Oaxaca. A for the Pyramid of Monte Albán. T for Tamales, the quintessential food of our community. E is a mosaic symbol of Mitla’s Grecas, the city of the dead. M for the agave Maguey. A for the beautiful Alebrijes. D for our beaches, such as Zipolite, Huatulco and Puerto Mazunte. Finally, O celebrates the artisans of Oaxaca.
On the nose: lemon, ripe fruit such as pineapple and nanche; and sweet tejocote.
On the palate: peppermint and notes of white flowers, lemon, and a hint of smoke
Each 750 ml bottle of Espadín mezcal (45% ABV) is made entirely by hand.
Mezcal Tatemado isn’t just a drink — it’s heritage in a glass, honoring balance, craftsmanship, and the living culture of our people.
